ABSTRACT

The sudden outbreak of coronavirus has caused schools to be shut and normal academic activities are put on hold. Many universities use small private online courses (SPOC) to facilitate the combination of MOOC and traditional campus classroom teaching, which effectively make up for the shortcomings of MOOC. This study is based on the teaching design of three platforms and four stages of 'SPOC Classroom'. This aims to analyze the effectiveness of SPOC and its implementation problems during the coronavirus pandemic in higher education. A descriptive qualitative approach was used and the sample was obtained by purposive sampling technique at a normal university in Western China. The sample was 27 students who take the 'Modern Mathematics Education with Technology' course. Furthermore, the data were on students' activeness in accessing SPOC on the Zhihuishu platform and the results of their final project to make mathematics learning media using dynamic mathematics software. The results showed the effectiveness of SPOC on student learning activeness using the Zhihuishu platform reached 81.5%. All students completed the courses on the platform and they actively discuss and ask questions. However, the problems that were found while implementing SPOC with the blended learning approach were poor internet connection, monotonous learning methods, and less objective final assignments © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

The integration of STEM education has been promoted to improve the quality of education in the 21st century, with its usage leading to emphasis on the factors influencing the intentions of preservice teachers. Therefore, this study aims to determine the factors influencing preservice teachers' intentions, as well as the effects of gender and age on the implementation of STEM education. The Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) was adopted to predict the relationship between knowledge, social influence, attitude, perceived usefulness, control, and behavioral intention (BI) of using STEM education among preservice secondary school teachers. A total of 30 item questionnaires on behavioral intentions were distributed to 201 respondents, with data being analyzed using the Structural Equation Model (SEM). The results showed that perceived usefulness had a positive significance, and a relationship with the attitudes of preservice teachers toward STEM education. Habit had a positive significance in influencing teachers' behavioral intentions and implementation. Subjective norms did not have a significant correlation with BI and implementation. These results are recommended for providing solutions to analytical problems, and to successfully improve future learning through an educational approach.

ABSTRACT

Technology integration is one of the abilities teachers need to support teaching and learning activities and direct students to deep learning. Choosing a learning media based on technology is more difficult in statistics lesson. This study aimed to analysis the ability of teachers in integrating technology during the coronavirus pandemic using the SAMR model. This research used a qualitative method, this research data was in the form of information on what technology was used and how the teacher integrated technology during the coronavirus pandemic. Data was collected by means of observation and interviewing 2 Guangxi Normal University students who took this course. The results showed that the ability of teachers to integrate technology in statistics lesson during coronavirus pandemic was at every SAMR level. This study proves that the coronavirus pandemic has a positive impact on teachers' ability to integrate technology. © 2021 Institute of Physics Publishing. All rights reserved.

ABSTRACT

This research aims to know the difficulty level and the difficulties faced by students on congruent and similar problems. The test is taken from students' mid-semester exam in march 2021. Students' learning condition is under the coronavirus pandemic. This research uses a mix-method to process its data which are the qualitative and quantitative methods. The quantitative method is used to analyze the difficulty level and the qualitative method will explain the difficulties faced by students when solving congruent and similar problems. There are 9 questions given in this research that consists of 8 visual problems and one combined problem. The difficulties of the problems are four questions with easy difficulty and five questions with medium difficulty. The sample of this research is 61 9th grade students from SPMN 47, Bandung, Indonesia. The data is taken by using the google platform. The second data will be taken from teachers' interview results following the analysis of students' difficulties when solving congruent and similarity problems. The test result average is 64.77 and teachers' interview result shows that the poor test result is because teachers are not prepared with the teaching condition during the coronavirus pandemic. A recommendation for teachers is that they can improve their ability by integrating technology in mathematics. © 2021 Institute of Physics Publishing. All rights reserved.

ABSTRACT

The learning trend in the 21st century is based on digital learning. This study aims to develop learning media in the form of a digital interactive on heat transfer concept for elementary students which is expected to overcome learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. The method of study used the ADDIE Model. The involves media experts and material experts as validators of the media being developed. The data collected in the form of a validity questionnaire and open questions. Data analysis by calculating the average percentage score which can be seen from the aspect of appearance, material aspects, and teacher responses and student responses. The results obtained from the media validity test show that the digital interactive on heat transfer concept is in the valid category with a percentage score of 79, 71%. The development of the digital interactive on heat transfer concept is said to be valid because it has met the assessment criteria seen from the appearance, material, and language. While the results obtained from the limited trial showed positive comments from students and the evaluation stage through student and teacher responses showed that the interactive media of conductor and insulator material was very practical with a percentage score of 91.37%. This shows that the digital interactive on heat transfer concept is suitable for use by teachers and students in learning. This research is expected to assist educators in using science learning media in elementary schools, especially the concept of heat transfer, and can be a reference for other researchers in developing interactive digital media in elementary schools. © 2021 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

The Covid-19 pandemic has become a world problem now. The pandemic has affeected a lot of core sectors including the education sector. Students are not able to go to school to study and have to do a social distancing by staying at home. What the government did so that students will still be able to study at home is by developing a long-distance learning media. In this research, we will get to know more about how students in China learn mathematics at home and their learning attitude towards the learning video. This research will use a qualitative and quantitative research method. The researchers gave out questionnaires to 408 students in Guangxi province, China. The researchers also did an interview on the parents and students to know the advantages and disadvantages of using the learning video during this covid-19 pandemic. The research result shows that there is a good student learning attidude towards the learning video. Students feel that the learning video is very interesting yet effective as they were able to understand the concept taught.

ABSTRACT

The aim of this study is to find the international students’ perception towards online learning using the Tencent Meeting, or the international version is VooV. The descriptive qualitative design was conducted in this study. The total of participants were thirty students in Guangxi Normal University, China academic year 2019/2020. The data was obtained using an end-of-semester questionnaire and then follow-up interviews. The researchers examined the students feedback and found that in general the Tencent Meeting is well received by the students. The participants agreed that online learning using the Tencent Meeting made the learning process well managed, the Tencent meeting was easy to use, the Tencent Meeting was affordable to learn. This point, the participants were enthusiastic in distance learning and considered that online learning using the Tencent Meeting was efficient during COVID-19 outbreak. At last, the respondents recommended this application to the other students. Drawbacks and suggestions for improvement were also discussed.
